the Nigeria’s edition of the global breakdancing competition, Glo Battle of the Year, came to a glorious end on Saturday as three dance groups took home millions of naira as winners of the dance tournament
The grand finale held at the Eko Convention Center also served as the awards ceremony where the winners and runners-up of the show’s seven dance categories returned home with their cash prizes donated by Globacom. The show which aired live on the NTA and AIT networks nationwide saw team trio Bboy, Bgirls and Breakdance come out on top.
Renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter, David Adeleke aka Davido brought the show to a crescendo with his outstanding performance which drew cheers from the crowd.
The duo of Teni Makanaki and Simi Kosoko opened the show with an impressive joint performance, while Nigeria’s finest comedic accordionists, Godwin Komone aka Gordons; Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth and Ugandan comedy star, Salvador made the audience laugh with their performances.
The Breakdance Crew had, in a pre-live show, shown off their dancing skills on the dance floor in a bid to get into the jury’s good books. The Lagos duo of 619 crew and Space Unlimited alongside Delta All Stars and Port Harcourt powerhouse Eleven All Stars were adjusted in the semi-finals.
