A hip-hop dance battle will take place in the town of Coquitlam

Street dancers are ready to show off their skillful moves – and you can potentially join them on the downtown stage for Culture Days.

Do you have the moves that can step up, stomp and kick the yard to wow a crowd?

Coquitlam residents of all ages could get the chance as the city prepares to host its Culture Days program starting this weekend.

A street dance battle is expected to take place on the TD Community Plaza stage in Town Center Park – in an effort to follow current COVID-19 health and safety protocols – with six internationally renowned artists aiming to bring energy, tenacity and enthusiasm.

The theme of this year’s event “Re: Imagine” aims to encourage positivity and tangible change in times of difficulty.

After competing in several different dances, the group will engage the audience by teaching them the fundamental movements of hip-hop, “light feet” and “tutting” – a dance that requires complex movements of the hands, arms and legs. fingers.
