Baha in Bowness temporarily closes due to Covid cases
A RESTAURANT had to temporarily close after a number of staff tested positive for the coronavirus and others had to self-isolate.
In a statement yesterday (July 16), Baha, Bowness, announced that it is expected to close temporarily with immediate effect until July 23.
In a video statement, Baha CEO Stephen Hargreaves said, “This is a very important announcement and I certainly don’t want to make it.
“Due to the positive cases and people needing to self-isolate, we have no choice but to shut down Baha from today.
“We have over a thousand bookings over the next seven days that we’re going to have to lose.
“I don’t know how to say it but we are in a crisis situation.
“This time in 2019, we would have 22 employees serving our customers on a Friday and Saturday night, today I have five.
“So just not enough to open the doors.”
In a statement added to the video, the Baha team said the announcement had already received “a lot of negative comments” on Facebook and reminded people to be understanding.
The statement said, “All we can ask is that despite the frustration this may cause you, you show that we are doing our best for our staff and for you as a customer.”
“We’ve already received a lot of negative comments and criticism on Facebook from those who don’t seem to grasp the situation we find ourselves in as a business or the current world we are operating in now for the foreseeable future.
“Alas! A decision like this is not an easy one and we fully understand the impact it will have, but we have a duty of care to our staff and everyone we welcome to our rooms, and it needs to be done. first.
“However, rest assured that these measures will likely only be temporary and as we have said above, we aim to reopen on July 23. We intend to honor the reservations we have from that date. .
“We can’t wait to reopen and remember … Be kind to each other.
“The BAHA team.
