What is BLACKPINK? Who are they?

BLACKPINK is a team of four South Korean pop girls. BLACKPINK’s main performers are Jennie, Lisa, Jisso and Rose. Each of them is versatile and nails a particular niche. Kim and Jisso handle vocals exceptionally well. On the other hand, BLACKPINK’s main dancers are Lisa and Rose.

The K-pop ladies seem to be quite experimental with their work and have dabbled in many non-K-pop genres such as EDM, hip hop, and trap. BLACKPINK has been active since 2016 and has featured in numerous songs under popular labels Interscope, YG, and YGEX.

Pink Venom, BLACKPINK’s latest single released under YG entertainment has gone viral with 200 million views on Youtube. It’s a feat and Pink Venom turns out to be the fastest K-pop video to go viral after How You Like That.

BLACKPINK’s Pink Venom ranked 22nd on the UK Official Singles Top 100. Buzzing announcements regarding the release of the new studio album after Pink Venom are to be launched on September 16 this year.

The Born Pink studio album got over 2 million pre-orders before the official release date. Jennie in her recent interview with Billboard says the world will see hip-hop in the style of BLACKPINK. The K-pop girl team will merge pop music using two languages, Korean and English, with a hip-hop base.

It’s something cool and not some rebellious form of hip-hop that the world will witness.
