Postal ballots give voters the opportunity to vote from the comfort of their own homes. Voters can return their ballot by mail, with no postage required, or to one of the many ballot drop-off points in the county.
In-person polling stations will be open across the county for four days, from Saturday September 11 to Tuesday September 14. Take advantage of early voting:
- At the registrar’s office starting August 16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday
- At a polling station near you or at the registrar’s office Saturday, September 11 to Monday, September 13, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All will be open on polling day, September 14, when the hours are reduced from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Why do we have a recall election? The dismissal process allows voters to decide whether they should dismiss elected public officials before the end of their term.
Voters will see two parts on their reminder ballot. In the first part, voters have the option of voting “yes” or “no” on whether to remove Governor Gavin Newsom from office.
In the second part, voters have the opportunity to select a replacement candidate. If more than 50% of the voters vote to remove the governor, the replacement candidate with the most votes will be elected.
Voter for the first time? You can register to vote in less than two minutes.
