Cork star TikTok was invited to audition for Love Island after sharing hilarious knockoffs
A young Irish impersonator who won rave reviews on Love Island contestants has revealed how the show’s bosses love his takeoffs so much that they asked him to audition for the show.
Ork woman Hayley Ryan (23) has become a hit on Tik Tok with her impersonations of Maura Higgins and Molly Mae Hague, after causing a stir on Instagram two years ago.
As the countdown continues to the new series launch on June 28, Hayley revisited the contestants from the show that last aired two years ago – and now she’s added our own Laura Whitmore .
“A Love Island producer contacted me on the 2019 show and asked if I would like to audition for the next series, after seeing my videos,” recalls Hayley (23) of Douglas, Co Cork.
“I was in my senior year at university (I was doing physical education and Irish at UCC) and wanted to finish that. I then got a job as a teacher (PE at Youghal ). “
But she said, “You can’t really teach if you’re going to Love Island, then you should give that up.”
So Hayley is ruling out appearing on the show at any time in the future because, while she loves it, she doesn’t think it would suit her.
“God loves me, I don’t think I would find anyone on it,” she laughs.
“Once you sort of get that in, you won’t go back to your job. I wanted that year of teaching experience anyway.
“I always said that I would finish my year of teaching and then see what the whole world would fall. I couldn’t go on, I don’t think I could. I wouldn’t like that kind of scene, he there is a lot of pressure.
“I don’t think it does a lot of them any good. They’re very attached to their appearance. Nothing is flawed and I wouldn’t like that person in me.”
Hayley is currently single and is choosy about what kind of guy she would choose.
“They should have a little humor anyway for me, that would be important,” she said. “Tall, dark and handsome, I hate to say it, but it would be business as usual.
“I like Anthony Joshua, the boxer. I like athletic guys. Jesse Lingard (footballer) too,”
When asked if she would like Tommy Fury, who is still with Molly Mae after they met on the 2019 show, she reflected, “He’s gorgeous. But he left with the fairies. I don’t know if I did. would be able to keep with him. Molly Mae is still with him and they’re still together, so it obviously works for them.
As for Limerickman Greg O’Shea, who won the last series with Amber Gill: “No, Greg would never do it for me.
“I think Greg left with a little plan. I don’t think he ever liked Amber. Then he ended up winning it. I don’t know, he’s too much of a pretty boy. He’s adorable and he is Irish so we have to be nice to him.
“I think he actually wanted Maura when he walked in and she obviously didn’t have it.”
She found a new avenue with her imitations with Tik Tok.
“Love Island doesn’t start for a few weeks but I’ve decided to release it (a new video) now,” she explains. “I only recently started with Tik Tok and it’s been going well, so I really got back into it.
“I did Georgia, Ellie, Maura, Molly and I do Laura Whitmore, even though she wasn’t there but will be in the new one. The last girl I made was Sophie.
“I can do some of the previous years.”
Hayley, who plays camogie for the Cork mid-team and also Gaelic football, agrees there is a lack of female imitators in Ireland.
She says, “I’ve always been able to do accents. I would have done theater years ago when I was younger and accents are pretty handy for that, and as I got older I realized that I could impersonate people just by watching shows.
“I do a lot of sports and I would end up pretending to be someone or take the trainer off; or at school, pretend to be the teacher when they left the room.”
She would love to meet Maura and is delighted that the Longford girl’s Twitter account “liked” his impersonation of her.
“I just think she’s so funny, she’s hilarious. I don’t think anyone wouldn’t want to meet her, she’s just hilarious,” she beams.
Haley, who is 5’3 “and has strawberry blonde hair with highlights, admits it was hard to find a man locked out.
“I get a few rare people asking me to go out, I’m going to have to wait and see,” she muses. “It’s tough during the lockdown. I’ve been on Tinder, I’m leaving now. I wouldn’t be against these things. I would never go on a dating show. Hope I meet someone. a, you never know what’s going to happen. “
But she is all set for the new season of Love Island, which had to be pulled last summer on Covid, and this season’s contestants are already in quarantine in Mallorca.
“I’m going to get addicted, I think everyone will be addicted,” she says.
“People are just waiting for it to come back at this point.
“I would love to see an Irish girl on it again, I hope. Maura was awesome, the fact that she’s so popular is awesome.”
