SNOWFLAKE BALL: The USA Dance (Youngstown Warren Chapter No. 2015) Snowflake Ball will be held on Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m. in the historic Avon Oaks Ballroom, 1401 N. State St., Girard.

The evening will include dinner, dancing and a show.

Enjoy a night of dancing on holiday favorites (waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep, Viennese waltz, polka and Country Two Step), Latin (cha cha, rumba, bolero, mambo, salsa and merengue), swing (rib east, west coast and Lindy) and bustle.

COMMUNITY TREE LIGHTING: Students from the Music Department at Chalker High School in Southington will perform during the community Christmas tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at the kiosk. Everyone is welcome and Santa Claus and Mrs Noel will be at the fire station to visit with the children.

HOLIDAY ART SHOW: The Fairhaven Foundation will present “A month of December to remember the holiday art show” 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Outreach Gallery inside the Eastwood Mall in Niles.

More than 200 works of art will be exhibited as part of the calendar art competition and “Painting with Rick for the holidays.”

All artwork is created by individuals supported by the Trumbull County Developmental Disorders Board and the Fairhaven Foundation.

The winning artists of the foundation’s recent competition will be available to autograph the new Fairhaven Foundation 2022 calendar, which will be available for purchase during the event. Live entertainment will be provided by the John Reese Trio.

SCHOOL OFFERS MOWER MAINTENANCE: The FIRST Robotics Aptiv team at Girard High School # 379 will organize their annual lawn mower maintenance and wintering service on Saturday, in the rear parking lot of the school. Girard high school, 1244, chemin Shannon.

Team members, under the supervision of their coaches and mentors, will clean the mowers, change the oil, sharpen and balance the blades, fill the gas tank and add a fuel stabilizer.

Mowers can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and owners will be called when the mowers are available for pickup. The fee is $ 40.

Proceeds from the program will benefit the high school team and the college’s FIRST LEGO League team.

SOCIETY OPEN HOUSE: The Niles Historical Society will be holding an Open House Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 503 Brown Street. The Ward-Thomas House Museum and the newly renovated Westenfield Hall will be decorated for Christmas. The house will be available for visits.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be served in the Westenfield Room. Shopping bags for children will be distributed.

The Westenfield Hall was remodeled with funds provided by the Estate of Walt Hewitt in memory of his father, OO Hewitt, who was Director of Public Safety during Prohibition.
