Lexington man goes viral on Tik Tok for comedy skits
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – What started out as a way to pass the time at work… quickly turned into something much more.
“At the end of the day, I just want to put a smile on everyone’s face. I just want to make people laugh, ”said Joseph Samaan.
Joseph Samaan of Lexington owns a gas station in County Powell. He says he and his brother decided to join the Tik Tok app, hoping to make a few people laugh at their comedy sketches.
“We had a lot of fun making videos in the store and having fun in our free time and since then all it takes is one video and you want to do more. It gets really addicting,” Samaan said.
But it wasn’t just a few… after posting a video of a customer at his gas station wearing a mask with his mouth cut out… it went viral and got over 2 million likes.
The video even ended up featured on an episode of MTV’s Ridiculousness.
This viral video skyrocketed Samaan to Tik Tok star status, with now 1.2 million people watching.
“It’s just seeing how much you realize, you would never think, you know, a million followers is a ton and I never thought that would have happened to me,” Samaan said.
He says he never imagined his love for comedy would take him this far, but it encourages him to pursue his dreams even more.
“You know, it just opens up more avenues. I want to become an actor, to do comedy, it makes me want to do things that I never thought I could do.
And he hopes his videos inspire others to do the same.
“It was never in my wildest dreams that I could think that I would have such a huge following and the main thing is to focus on yourself, try not to worry about what everything everyone thinks, if you’re having fun and posting, then everything will come together, it always is, ”Samaan added.
