Romelu Lukaku breaks silence on Inter Milan future amid Man City links
Romelu Lukaku has revealed he remains at Inter Milan this summer despite strong speculation linking him with a return to the Premier League with Manchester City.
Lukaku has enjoyed a strong season in Italy, with 24 goals and 10 assists in 36 league appearances, helping Inter win their first Scudetto in a decade and ending Juventus’ stranglehold on Serie A.
Despite their success, however, Inter have a myriad of financial problems and apparently need to raise funds from player sales this summer to stay afloat.
The Milan club have already lost their manager Antonio Conte due to the threat of having their best players sold under him and speculation suggested they could lose their top scorer and most salable asset Lukaku as well.
The Belgian has been heavily linked with a return to England after leaving Manchester United in 2019, with City and Chelsea apparently interested.
However, Lukaku has made it clear that he will not be leaving the San Siro this summer.
“Yes I am staying” he said HLN. “I have already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager.
“Maybe I shouldn’t say it yet… but it was a very positive conversation.”
City are on the hunt for a striker this summer following the departure of Sergio Aguero and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has said they are confident the club will replace their top scorer.

“We are losing a very important legend in Sergio Aguero, very difficult shoes to fill, but I am convinced that we will find the right player to fill these shoes,” he said in his end of season interview.
“There are other areas within the team that obviously need investment, not too much, it’s not about numbers.
“It’s about quality and the team are a phenomenal team. You don’t win the Premier League and reach the Champions League final if you don’t have an amazing team and we have it. . We will bring quality to the team in a few key positions. “
