Shaun Wright-Phillips raises doubts over Jack Grealish prospects at Man City amid transfer link
But Shaun Wright-Phillips is not convinced the Etihad would necessarily be the right destination for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish if he were to leave the club this summer.
Grealish has been the subject of strong interest from Manchester City and a £ 100million offer as the Blues look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
The midfielder has excelled for Villa in recent seasons and is reportedly open to a change this summer, but Wright-Phillips is concerned about Grealish’s hopes of joining Pep Guardiola.
Talk to SBK sports bettingWright-Phillips said, “It would be nice to have Jack at City, but it’s a lot of competition.
“He’s used to playing every game but he should compete with Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Sterling, so it’s not that easy.”
Wright-Phillips, however, backed Grealish to succeed in the Etihad in the long run.
“He’s that type of player. It would take a while to adjust to the way City play, but once he gets his feet on the ground he’s still going to cause problems.”
The former Manchester City midfielder also believes Grealish is set to start for England against Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-final.
“For the game against Denmark, I would go with Jack Grealish. I would like to see him play, especially on the right.
“He wins a lot of free kicks and causes a lot of problems which we have to start doing on both sides. If we can have him on both wings it gives Harry Kane more scoring chances.”
